What this ritual is for
A gentle rite to help you set down the weight of a loss without setting down the love.
Grief does not keep to a schedule. Months or years after a death, a miscarriage, the end of a family or a home, it can still sit on the chest like a stone. The people around you may have moved on. Your Ka has not, and it needs to be tended.
I light a white candle for the one you lost and a gold one for you. I set a glass of water and a little honey between them, write both your names, and sit with the two flames until they burn even. I ask for the weight to lift and the love to stay.
This is slow, kind work and I do it slowly. If you want to tell me about them, I read every word. Nothing you write to me about your loss is ever shared.
